Almost 10 years ago on the "Up in Smoke" tour, we saw Dr. Dre drinking cognac onstage, and he announced a line of cognac and vodka drinks last year. A few years ago, he did a Coors Light commercial. Now the production legend has moved onto a lighter drink of choice: Dr Pepper.

Dre appears in a new Dr Pepper commercial, in which he takes over things at an outdoor party. The Doc walks in and tells viewers in a voiceover, "Scientific tests prove when you drink Dr Pepper slow, the 23 flavors taste even better. For me, slow always produces a hit." He adds later, "Slower is better — trust me, I'm a doctor."

Dre then makes his way over to the DJ booth, where the guy on the wheels of steel is playing a techno beat that the Compton native doesn't seem to be feeling. Dre politely tells the DJ to "step aside" from the turntables and throws on one of his beats, a track that was made during the Detox recording sessions with co-producers the Buchanans, a rep for the Buchanans told MTV News.

The track used in the commercial leaked onto the Internet in February and was labeled "Topless." A source told MTV news that the song is officially titled "Sh-- Popped Off." The song features T.I. referencing Dre's raps: "It's the D.R. ... Made the West side worldwide, no PR/ Gangsta-rap God, I'm the end-all, be-all/ California love from the Bloods to the C-Dogs."

In March, when asked by MTV News about the song, Tip declined to confirm his work with Dre.

"I heard about that," Tip said coyly about the track, which is expected to appear on Detox. "Did I really reference vocals for Dr. Dre? Did Dr. Dre confirm I referenced vocals for Dr. Dre? I cannot confirm or deny my involvement with the Detox project, but if I had the chance to work with the great Dr. Dre, it would be an honor and a privilege, and definitely be a pivotal moment and highlight of my career."

Meanwhile, Dre continues to work on Detox. 50 Cent and Eminem appeared on BET's "106 and Park" this week and said Dre has completed 10 songs for the project.

Miley Cyrus, riding high on the success of her "Hannah Montana" film and soundtrack, has announced plans for a 45-date North American tour this fall. The tour, which features Metro Station as opening act, kicks off September 14 in Portland, Oregon and wraps up in Miami on December 2.

The tour is the teen star's first since the highly successful "Best of Both Worlds" trek in 2007-2008. That outing grossed $55,245,879 and sold 994,665 tickets to 70 shows reported to Billboard Boxscore. Cyrus was named Breakthrough Artist at the 2008 Billboard Touring Awards. The tour was also notable for drawing attention to issues in the ticketing business,
as Cyrus’ concerts sold out immediately and tickets were quickly available on secondary ticketing sites, drawing the ire of parents and the scrutiny of public officials as to the number of tickets available to the general public and how the tickets end up on the resale market.

Ticketmaster is using the Cyrus tour to rollout its biggest experiment in paperless ticketing yet in an effort to limit ticket scalping. According to a press release, "All tickets will be sold exclusively through paperless ticket delivery which means fans will not receive a physical concert ticket for their entry into the event." Ticket buyers will be required to bring the credit card used making the purchase and a photo ID to the concert venue in order to gain entry. All groups must enter the concerts together, and ushers will issue "seat locator slips." Information about the paperless ticketing for the tour is available at ticketmaster.com/mileycyrus.

The 3D concert film of the tour, "Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour," opened with $31 million last year, ending up with $65 million to become the biggest concert movie of all time.

This year's tour is presented by Walmart, which is launching a new apparel line with Cyrus and designer Max Azira in August.

An American Express presale runs from June 10-12, with tickets going on sale to the general public beginning Saturday, June 13th at 10:00 AM local. Ticket prices range from $39.50 – 79.50 plus fees and applicable service charges.

British singer-songwriter Katie Melua has sold more than 10 million albums, mostly in the U.K. and Europe, and even has a Dutch tulip named after her. Breaking the U.S. is also on her agenda, but she doesn't expect to be an overnight success.

"People go, 'Oh, you have to break America!,'" Melua, who's in the midst of a brief North American tour to promote last month's release of her third album, "Pictures" (an October 2008 release overseas), tells Billboard.com. "To me, it's just another place with a bunch of lovely people. Yes, it's bigger and harder to break, but I don't mind a bit of hard work. It's not really any different than taking in anywhere else."

Melua, who's just released a live album recorded at London's O2 Arena, wraps up her North American swing on Friday in Nashville, with an appearance on ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" set for Wednesday. She'll be in Europe during July and early August but says she plans to spend most of the rest of the year working on her fourth studio album. It will be her first not produced by and co-written with her manager, Mike Batt, who discovered Melua while she was studying at the BRIT School for the Performing Arts.

"It's exciting and scary because he's been such a huge part of what I've done, and so sort of incredible and nurturing and just inspiring with it all," Melua notes. "I'm kind of going out on my own for the first time. I'm excited but a bit worried, too. But it's time to grow up a little bit and take full responsibility for myself. I suppose you have to take that leap from a bridge once in awhile, don't you, and see if you can fly."

Melua isn't offering up any details about her flight plan, however. "It's too early to talk about it at the moment," she says of the next album. "I just think it feels too soon. I want to get it done before I'm talking about it. I really do believe in doing before talking, so...just watch this space for the time being."

Grammy Award-winning singer Koko Taylor, known worldwide as the "Queen of the Blues," died today (June 3) of complications following surgery, her long time record label Alligator announced on its website. She was 80.

Willie Dixon signed Taylor to Chess Records in 1962, and he produced several singles and two albums for her. Dixon also wrote "Wang Dang Doodle," Taylor's million selling 1965 hit that became her signature song.

Taylor moved to Alligator Records in 1975. Of her nine albums for the label, eight were nominated for Grammy awards. She won a Grammy in 1984 for her guest appearance on the compilation album "Blues Explosion" on Atlantic.

Taylor's last public performance was on May 7 in Memphis at the Blues Music Awards, where she sang "Wang Dang Doodle" after receiving her award for Traditional Blues Female Artist Of The Year.

Talk about a dream come true. Just five months after being granted political asylum in the United States, the Cuban pianist Alfredo Rodriguez won a place on the slate of performers at the 31st annual Playboy Jazz Festival. And that's not all. The jazz/classical enthusiast is also working on his first album with an industry icon: Quincy Jones.

It all started three years when Rodriguez applied to play at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. The Cuban government approved his application, and Rodriguez was later asked to play at festival founder Claude Nobs' house, where he presented an arrangement of Cole Porter's "I Love You." Among the guests that night was Jones.

"I was completely blown away," recalled Rodriguez, who speaks some English but also uses an interpreter.

Upon returning to the United States, Jones stayed in contact with Rodriguez through the former's production company. Seizing the chance to pursue his craft stateside, Rodriguez defected while in Mexico doing a show with his father, a well-known singer in Cuba with the same name. Making his way to the Texas border, Rodriguez officially entered the States on January 15.

Born in Havana, the 23-year-old Rodriguez began playing the piano at age 7. With musical influences ranging from Bach and Beethoven to mentor Jones and Thelonious Monk, Rodriguez later honed his skills as a producer and musical director. He has collaborated with a host of Cuban artists including Gaston Joya, Michael Olivera, musicians in the Buena Vista Social Club and his father.

"This kid is something else," said Jones, who chose the pianist to play as part of his keynote speech at this year's South by Southwest music conference. "He has perfect pitch, composes, arranges and practices 12 hours a day. He never stops."

Now based in Los Angeles, Rodriguez will appear June 14 at the Playboy festival at Los Angeles' Hollywood Bowl, joined by Nathan East on bass and fellow Cuban Francisco Mela on drums. Between recording and negotiating a label deal for his debut album, Rodriguez is slated to perform at other jazz festivals this summer, including Monterey and Newport.

"The U.S. is one of the biggest melting music pots in the world," he said. "I'm looking forward to playing with some of this country's incredible musicians."

Atlantic has announced that it will relaunch the Elektra Records imprint, which has been dormant since 2004. The label will be run by Fueled By Ramen founder John Janick and Atlantic EVP of A&R Mike Caren.

While the new presidents say they are planning on signing new artists, the first three artists to join the label all have established relationships with Atlantic. The first album released on Elektra was the soundtrack for the HBO show "True Blood," which dropped on May 19. The company's next release will be the U.S. debut of U.K. dance artist Little Boots, whose EP "Illuminations" is scheduled for release on June 9.

Elektra has also signed French electronic duo Justice, and rapper Cee-Lo. Caren says a new Cee-Lo album will be out in the either the fourth quarter of this year, or first quarter next year. Justice will release a new album in early 2010.

Janick and Caren say they were approached by Atlantic co-chairs and COO's Julie Greenwald and Craig Kallman to head up the imprint.

"When Elektra merged with Atlantic five years ago, we always knew the right moment would come to bring it back to life," said Kallman and Greenwald. "The great news is that we have found the perfect people to do it. John and Mike are two of the most passionate, creative, forward-thinking young executives in our business. They both started their careers as teenagers and have gone on to champion some of the most exciting new music of the last decade. The independent, entrepreneurial spirit that long defined Elektra is in great hands, and we are truly thrilled to see the label take flight once again."

Janick also suggests the approaching 60th anniversary of the launch of Elektra as another reason for the relaunch of the imprint.

"We are planning on building an eclectic brand," Janick says. "We're looking for artists with potential. We're not an incubator label; we're going to develop artists and get them to the next level."

He adds that he will continue to run Fueled By Ramen and extend the 360 model they have used to Elektra, noting that Little Boots is a 360 artist.

Sometimes it's just easy for producers Sean C. and LV, a.k.a. Grind Music Inc. — play the beat, let the artist rap over it, done. Classic.

"We had that Michael Jackson sample. L went up there to Yonkers and played them the beat," Sean C. said of Jadakiss' new street jam, "One More Step." "It's pretty simple, straightforward."

"Soon as he heard it," LV added. "I played, like, 20 seconds and he was like, 'I already know what that is. Don't even worry about that.' "

"It was a blessing they got it on some 'We Gon Make It'-type vibe," C., a former A&R rep at Loud Records, added.

Sean C. and LV have incredible credentials and have worked with the best of the best.

"This is a plaque I got for Reasonable [Doubt]," Sean said, holding up his reminder from his early work with Jay-Z. C. co-produced "Can't Knock the Hustle."

It was on Jay-Z's last album that the two friends — who grew up in the same neighborhood but didn't start working together until 2002 — proved themselves as one of hip-hop's most viable production teams. Working with Diddy, they handled six songs off 2007's American Gangster, including the sonically combustible theme "Roc Boys."

After that, the phone rang off the hook. The two did work on Busta Rhymes' "Don't Touch Me," Ghostface's "Barrel Brothers" and Fat Joe's "I Won't Tell," among others.

"We wanna just keep putting good music out," said L, who came up as Big Pun's DJ. "You just wanna stay relevant and stay hot. So that's what we got to prove to ourselves. We know we could do it. You always talk about, 'I'm nice, I'm nice' — now it's time to show it. Anything you need, come down. It's like Home Depot — Beat Depot."

"It works different ways for different joints," Sean C. said about how the two work in the lab. "It might be a day when L would have an ill sample, then he'll start f---ing with it and I might find some drums for it ... or a vocal sample to go on top of it. We just make good music. That's what it's about."

"Every beat is different," L insisted. "We just do it."

On Ghostface Killah: "We cooking that up right now. The last three Ghost albums we been on. The last one we had five [tracks]. ... The chemistry with Ghost is very good. It's mostly an automatic thing. He'll have a beat CD for a minute and when he's ready, he's like, 'I want this one this one and this one.' It just happens." - Sean C.

On Slaughterhouse: "We're really in the beginning stages of it. We're trying to scope a sound for Slaughter House so it's their sound, not somebody else's. We're sending them joints, they got a bunch of joints they picked." - Sean C.

Wale got that done while he was is in L.A. The beat was done, then Travis played over it, then we played on top of what Travis did." - LV

The Streets Is Talking: News & Notes From the Underground

Recently on BET's "106 & Park," 50 Cent spoke on how he, Eminem and Dr. Dre are probably the most powerful crew of artists in the music business today. Dre's a legend, Eminem is rolling — his Relapse went #1 last week — and Fif has been very successful as well. But since 50 and Em are so tight, will we ever see the two of them make an entire LP together? DJ Whoo Kid says the project has been talked about, but he isn't holding his breath waiting for it to happen.

"They been talking about that sh-- for years," Whoo Kid said. "We even talked about it in the mixtape format. It's an incredible situation [that] I hope one day goes down. Who wouldn't want to see that? I don't know what they gonna call that. I remember Em joked about that, 'Let's call it Ebony and Ivory.' Society is gonna have to force these guys to do it ... the scheduling, Em's album, 50's album — it's all scheduling. We've talked about it the last three, four years. You would want to see it, right?"

Of course — just like we would love to see the Jay-Z and Nas album, the Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre album or even that T-Wayne LP. But, like Whoo Kid, we'll believe it when we see it.

"I don't think Em and 50 will ever get it together to do an album," journalist Elliott Wilson said. "I know there was talk of [a joint album] when 50 first blew up and it was gonna be called Black and White. I personally love that title," the founder and CEO of RapRadar.com continued. "I'm sure there are plenty of unreleased records they've done and some kinda compilation could be released one day. But as far as a full-fledged album recorded together, that's doubtful. Then again, this is hip-hop, so what the f--- do we know?"

DJ Whoo Kid added that when 50 and Em are in the studio, they bring out the best in each other.

"The element of Dre being there, too, brings their bars up," Whoo Kid said. "They're both excited, crazy. They're already excited with each other. You see the verses are way up there, the creativity is way up there. 50 is influenced by [Em's] creativity where he crosses the line. The only time you see 50 buggin' out is when they're together. Whereas when 50's solo, he's creative too, but into the gangsta world, the thug sh--. Em showed him there's other lines out there you can f--- with.

"In the beginning it was business," he continued about 50 and Em's relationship. "They naturally grew into a family-type bond. 50 hangs more with Eminem and he's more connected with Eminem than Dre. Not to say 50 and Dre don't get along — they're really cool, they're friends and everything, but it's mostly business. But 50's gonna go to Eminem's wedding, 50's gonna go to Eminem's barbecue, they're gonna go on vacation together. They're more into the family sh--."

"Although I've never been around Eminem and 50 together," Wilson told us, "I believe that their friendship is built on loyalty and trust. I think 50 is Em's biggest fan and supporter who always shows his appreciation to Marshall for enabling him to build an incredible life. He doesn't even know how to not show that gratitude. And 50's probably one of the few people in this world Em can truly confide in."

Miley Cyrus heated up the MTV Movie Awards red carpet last Sunday in a beige Moschino dress, and now she's hooking up with designer Max Azria (of BCBG and Hervé Léger) to start her own clothing line.

The line, called Miley Cyrus & Max Azria, will hit Wal-Mart, where her good friend Taylor Swift has a clothing line, this August. Everything in the collection, which will include tops, pants, graphic T-shirts, shoes and accessories, is inspired by Miley's own personal style and will be priced under $20.

"I love creating looks that are all about personal expression and individuality," Cyrus said in a statement. "Collaborating with Max Azria has been an amazing experience, and I'm really excited about launching this line with Wal-Mart. There's even more to come!"

She later took to Twitter to announce the news. "In August my clothing line with MAX AZRIA (bcbg) is coming out in walmart!!! it's soooo cute! very rocker and hey who doesn't want a great deal!!!" she wrote. "i love u guys! I'm so exited to share this wit u."

But Miley's clothing line wasn't her only big announcement. This summer she'll be hitting the road for a tour with her brother's band, Metro Station. "that's right folks- I'm going on tour!!! but not any tour, with METROSTATION!!!!" she Tweeted. "I can't wait to see y'all there! go to mileycyrus.com or ticketmaster.com!!! yayy :) we are selling tickets the REAL way!!!"

The tour kicks off September 14 in Portland, Oregon, and will hit 45 cities before wrapping up in Miami on December 2. Tickets go on sale June 13 and are being offered at $40-$80.

Reality is a harsh thing. Once the initial bouts of joy that accompanied the Blink-182 reunion had subsided, doubt began to creep in, and many fans were left to wonder: Does this thing have any legs? Would this be just a one-and-done situation? Would Blink sell out arenas, make a perfunctory record, then disappear quietly into the night once again? Would they really toy with our hearts?

Well, blissed-out Blink fanatics can rest easy. Because it sounds like Mark, Tom and Travis are in this for the long haul.

In an interview with their hometown San Diego Union-Tribune, the guys said that they're planning to tour and record for as long as they're having fun. Which, given the amount of scatological jokes they've been rediscovering lately, could mean forever.

"I hate when bands get back together and do one tour, and it feels like they're going to make a bunch of money, and then they go away for a while and then come back again," Mark Hoppus told the paper. "We did this [reunion] to continue being creative and having fun. I see us continuing to tour and put out albums as long as it's fun. There's no end game and no plan at all. We enjoy playing music together, that's all."

Tom DeLonge echoed the sentiment, joking that they had "no end game, no plan and no practice. ... We're just going to see where that takes us." He added that Blink haven't had all that much time to sit around and hash out their past feelings and future endeavors, not with a relatively humongous arena tour looming on the horizon.

"It's definitely [interesting] how rapidly things can change from day to day," DeLonge said. "I have a lot of anxiety right now about the tour and how big it is."

And while it might sound like there's plenty of anxiety, there's also plenty of fun involved, which suggests that the Blink-182 reunion really could go on and on.

"Oh, it's so fun," drummer Travis Barker said. "This is a breath of fresh air."

The Dirty Projectors' last two releases, "The Getty Address" and "Rise Above," were lo-fi concept albums built around inscrutable song structures. Given the Brooklyn-based indie band's track record, "Stillness Is the Move" -- the group's pop-confection first single from the forthcoming album "Bitte Orca" -- represents a jarring departure.

Over a shimmering guitar loop and playful backing beat, guitarist Amber Coffman sings about the fear and comfort of settling down, something the band may be experiencing stylistically.

"I've never identified with that idea of 'experimental.' I like music that takes risks and tries new things," singer/guitarist Dave Longstreth said. "But I like music that is assured and resolved too."

Slated for release June 9 on Domino Records, "Bitte Orca" contains arrangements as intricate as those on the band's previous albums. But tracks like "Cannibal Resource" and "Two Doves" offer a more immediate approach.

The set was recorded in Brooklyn and Portland, Oregon, and it's a departure from the band's previous album-spanning concepts. "Rise Above," for instance, was a song-for-song reinterpretation of punk band Black Flag's 1981 album "Damaged."

"The restrictions of 'Rise Above' ... were just a means to a greater freedom," says Longstreth, the band's principal songwriter. "'Bitte Orca' was crazy because everything was permitted."

The new album is the Dirty Projectors' first for Domino, which signed the six-member outfit in April 2008. In addition to Coffman and Longstreth, the members are Angel Deradoorian, Brian Mcomber, Nat Baldwin and Haley Dekle.

After releasing albums on the independent labels Marriage, Western Vinyl and Dead Oceans, Longstreth is pleased to be part of an imprint with "a history of bringing difficult, uncompromising music to the center of the culture." (Among the label's releases are work by Franz Ferdinand, Arctic Monkeys and The Kills.)

Even without the impending Domino debut, 2009 has been an eventful year for the Projectors. They collaborated with former Talking Heads frontman David Byrne on "Knotty Pine," the lead track from Red Hot Organization's star-studded "Dark Was the Night" compilation, released in February. The band later performed alongside Byrne and other indie breakouts like Feist and Bon Iver at a special "Dark Was the Night" concert event May 3 at New York's Radio City Music Hall.

Five days later, the band played an intimate show with Bjork at Manhattan's Housing Works Bookstore Cafe to an audience of 300. The collaborations have helped raise the band's profile and whet anticipation for the new CD.

The Dirty Projectors are on the road in North America, opening for fellow Brooklyn band TV on the Radio, and perform Friday (June 12) at the Bonnaroo festival in Tennessee. The act has also lined up a brief U.S. headlining tour, beginning June 17 in Philadelphia.

Friday night saw the debut from another exoteric declaration from Jay-Z: "You rappers singing a bit much/ return to rap, you T-Pain-ing too much/ I'm a multi-millionaire/ So how am I the most backbreaking n---a here?"

Upon New York's Hot 97 radio post, Jay premiered afresh song from his approaching Blueprint 3 LP called, "D.O.A.," or "The Death of Auto-Tune."

"This is anti-Auto-Tune, demise of the Ringtone," Hov starts rapping over a track co-produced through Kanye West and No I.D. Hard beats and horns glare as Jay arouses figures of a black John Dillinger holding a fuming Tommy Gun, making a chump ignorant enough to stand in his way. Jay is back to shoot down biting MCs.

"This ain't for iTunes, this ain't for singalongs," he raps afterward in the song. "This is Frank Sinatra at the opera, get a blonde ... My raps don't bear melodies/ It should make jackers commit felonies/ This ain't a #1 record, this is practically assault with a deadly weapon."

Last month, Kanye West told MTV News about Jay-Z's stance against Auto-Tune, the vocal effect used extensively by T-Pain and by West himself on his latest album, 808s and Heartbreak.

"We actually removed all the songs with Auto-Tune off of his album," West said, "to make the point that this is an anti-Auto-Tune album, even though I released an album that has all Auto-Tune!"

Later on Friday night, Jay called into Funkmaster Flex and Mister Cee at Hot 97's studios to explain that he's taking aim at artists who use Auto-Tune as a crutch. He also compared the vocal enhancement usage by rappers to wearing throwback sports jerseys back in the day: Everybody started to wear them and they got played out.

"I think I said something important," he said, adding that he spoke out "only on the aspect of moving [the conversation] forward," and elaborated about who he was not going at.

"The guys who did it, did it great," he explained. "T-Pain, he does great melodies. If you listen to Kanye, great melodies. If you listen to [West's] 'Say You Will' or 'Heartless,' great melodies. [Lil Wayne and T-Pain's] 'Lollipop' was a fantastic melody. Everybody can't do it. Let them guys do it. They got their little niche, let's move on. That's just my opinion. I don't know if everybody feels the same way."

The Brooklyn MC said his intention with the record was to "draw [a] line in the sand."

The Jiggaman confirmed that his long-awaited Blueprint 3 is coming out via a new partnership with Atlantic Records; the album is expected to be released on September 11. They will handle the distribution for the album, which is housed on Hova's Roc Nation.

"I got the foundation and I'm ready to blast off," he said.

"I bought my album back — I overpaid for it," he added about recently ending his long stint with Def Jam Records. "I believe at this point in my career, I wanted to be totally independent and free in what I wanted to do. Def Jam and Universal, they did a beautiful thing in letting me pay. They overcharged me a little bit, but I appreciate all the years they put into my career ... I could never have a [traditional] record deal. I'm working with Atlantic, they gonna distribute the album and they're doing a fantastic job. I get a chance to connect with the people I started my career with. It's almost like poetic justice."

Expect more from Jay soon. DJ Skee took to Twitter to say that the first official single from Blueprint 3 will be "On That," featuring Drake. Jay wasn't asked and didn't speak on that song, but he did talk a little bit about the album's feel.

"The vibe I'm on is, stripping it down and bringing it back classic," Jay said. "I hear people, I gotta get back in my square and really let people know what time it is really quick."

After last week's blowout week on the Billboard 200 -- where there were seven debuts in the top 10 -- this week's tally is slightly tamer. While there are still three new albums that arrive in the top 10, the Hot Shot Debut is Marilyn Manson's "The High End Of Low" at No. 4 with 49,000. While it gives the band its sixth top 10 set, it arrives with the lowest opening week sum of any of its albums since the live effort "The Last Tour On Earth" began with 26,000 in 1999. The group's last studio release, 2007's "Eat Me, Drink Me," entered the list at No. 8 with 88,000.

Eminem's "Relapse" holds on to the No. 1 slot with ease, shifting 211,000 in its second week, down 65.3% from its whopping bow last week with 608,000. With 819,000 sold, "Relapse" has already become the fifth best-seller of the year. Taylor Swift's "Fearless" leads the pack with 1,173,000. So far, only two albums have shifted a million in 2009, "Fearless" and the "Hannah Montana: The Movie" soundtrack (1,004,000). At this point last year, believe it or not, only one album had surpassed a million -- Jack Johnson's "Sleep Through the Static."

Back in the top 10 this week, Wisin and Yandel's "La Revolucion" debuts at No. 7 with 36,000. That marks the highest charting set on the Billboard 200 for the duo and their second-best opening sales week. The act's last set, "Wisin Vs. Yandel: Los Extraterrestres," entered at No. 14 with 53,000. Despite the lower sales frame for the new album it still opens at No. 7, making it the highest charting Spanish-language album since Mana's "Amar Es Combatir" debuted and peaked at No. 4 in September 2006 off an 87,000 opening sales week.

Indie rock band Grizzly Bear is having its best week ever as its third full-length studio set, "Veckatimest," arrives at No. 8 with 33,000. That's the first album to chart on the Billboard 200 for the Massachusetts band and it also gives the quartet its best sales week. 40% of its sales came from downloads while another 24% were shifted at independent and small chain stores.

Just outside the top 10 this week, country duo Montgomery Gentry sees its "For Our Heroes" album bow at No. 11 with 26,000. The set, a quasi-greatest hits package, was sold exclusively through Cracker Barrel Old Country Stores. A portion of the proceeds from the sales of the album will go to the Wounded Warrior Project charity.

Finally, here's a recap of the top 10 this week. Green Day's "21st Century Breakdown" holds at No. 2 with 76,000 (down 54%) while the "Hannah Montana: The Movie" soundtrack climbs three slots to No. 3 with 52,000 (down 10%). Lady GaGa's "The Fame" skips up three positions to No. 5 with 45,000 (up less than 1%) while Kenny Chesney's "Greatest Hits II" falls three rungs to No. 6 with 43,000 (down 51%). Taylor Swift's "Fearless" flies up two slots to No. 9 with 33,000 (up 3%) and Rascal Flatts' "Unstoppable" rises from No. 12 to No. 10 with 27,000 (up 3%).

Overall album sales in this past chart week (ending May 31) totaled 5.75 million units, down 12.4% compared to the sum last week (6.57 million) and down 20.4% compared to the same sales week of 2008 (7.23 million). Year to date album sales stand at 148.7 million, down 14% compared to the same total at this point last year (172.8 million).

Live Nation will eliminate service fees on more than five million lawn tickets and hundreds of concerts for its amphitheaters in a one-day promotion June 3. The 24 hour sales event is being billed as the biggest ticket promotion ever, which would be hard to dispute.

"No Service Fee Wednesdays," begins June 3 at 12:01 a.m., offering fans some of the lowest prices of the summer with no ticket service fees on any LiveNation.com-ticketed amphitheater show, and only at LiveNation.com. A source at Live Nation says service fees typically average about one third of the total ticket cost.

Throughout the rest of the summer, Live Nation will offer a variety of "No Service Fee Wednesdays" specials at LiveNation.com. This promotion is not valid in combination with other special pricing offers and is subject to availability. Tickets without service fees are available at all Live Nation-ticketed amphitheaters for concerts including blink-182, Coldplay, No Doubt, Nickelback, Depeche Mode, Toby Keith, Brad Paisley, Crue Fest, Def Leppard/Poison/Cheap Trick, Kid Rock/Lynyrd Skynyrd, Phish, Nine Inch Nails/Jane's Addition, the Dead, Rascal Flatts, and many others.

Live Nation has already been tackling the issue of service fees with its in-house ticketing operation launched at the beginning of this year. "We know the fan has been frustrated by the series of successive fees in the purchase process," Live Nation Ticketing CEO Nathan Hubbard tells Billboard.com. "There is attrition in the sales flow once you see your third page with some additional fees. The fan told us they just want to know up front how much the cost of the experience is going to be. We didn’t address that problem completely, but the first step was moving from fan's paying a service fee, you might pay a shipping and handling fee, maybe a print-at-home fee, delivery fee, etc, to consolidating it into a single up-front fee that is there as you cart your inventory."

Soul man Raphael Saadiq has documented his live show supporting last year's "The Way I See It" with his first-ever concert DVD, "Raphael Saadiq: Live From the Artists Den," which comes out July 21 from Artists Den Entertainment and Columbia Records.

The 18-track performance was filmed on December 3 during a private show at the Harvard Club of Boston. Portions of it aired on the "Live at the Artists Den" Public Television series, but the DVD will feature songs not included in the broadcast plus bonus interview clips. Public Television will make the DVD available as a pledge drive promotion at publictelevisionrocks.org for 30 days before the street date.

"It was a great night," Saadiq tells Billboard.com about the performance. "The set was good and it was shot very well -- that was important to me -- and it sounded very good. It exposed everybody in the band, and that's what I was really excited about. I thought it was a piece that could show me in a light I wanted to be seen in."

Saadiq says he was also surprised by how many people saw the original broadcast of the concert.

"You never find out how many people watch PBS that you know until that show comes on," he notes. "A lot of people called me up and told me they saw it and were like, 'Oh, God, we saw this PBS show. It was great. When did that happen? When was that?' That was pretty cool."

Saadiq is preparing to film a video for "Let's Take a Walk," the next, and probably final, single from "The Way I See It." He has another month of festival dates planned, including performances at the Bonnaroo Music Festival on June 13, the Essence Music Festival on July 5 and a European swing with stops at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, the Pori Jazz Festival in Finland and the Festival De Nimes in France.

After that, Saadiq says, he plans to get to work in earnest on his next album.

"Once I start thinking about it is when I start it, and I've been thinking every day for the last three months," he says. "I do have some music I put together, but I didn't put any lyrics to it yet. I think it's going to stay in a soulful, tricky vein. I'm just figuring how I'm going to take it to the next level. You never know what's going to happen until you get in that room."

Saadiq has done a bit of production recently as well, working on tracks with Ledisi, Fantasia and Mary J. Blige. He's also done some scoring for the upcoming film "Holy War."

Rapper 50 Cent has settled his lawsuit against an engineering firm over repairs and renovations to a Connecticut mansion he bought from boxer Mike Tyson in 2003, a court official said Friday.

Details of the settlement, confirmed by Linda Cohn, deputy chief clerk at Hartford Superior Court, were not released.

The rapper's lawyer, Michael Feldman, declined to comment. A message was left for an attorney for the firm, BVH Integrated Services of Bloomfield.

The case went to trial Tuesday, and the entertainer testified his lawyers hired the firm to inspect the property before he bought it. He said that BVH came back with an estimate of about $500,000 for needed repairs, but that he ended up spending $6 million.

Lawyers said that about $3 million of that was spent on maintenance repairs that should have been included in the firm's estimate, and that the rest was spent on additional improvements.

BVH's lawyer, Michael Byrne, has disputed 50 Cent's allegations, saying his client shouldn't be liable for the difference because 50 Cent wanted "extravagant and costly upgrades."

The firm was to make a visual inspection to determine how much it would cost to repair the roof, decks, driveway and other aspects of the property.

A contractor hired by BVH to conduct the 2003 inspection, John Wilcox Jr., testified Tuesday that there was no intention to provide an inaccurate estimate, and he wasn't given enough time to do a comprehensive review. He also said the mansion was built with inexpensive materials.

50 Cent, also known as Curtis Jackson, sued in 2006. He put the mansion up for sale in 2007 for $18.5 million and allowed the MTV show "Cribs" to film an episode to show off the details of the 19-bedroom, 37-bathroom property. The home includes a recording studio and a nightclub that features a swing dangling from the ceiling.

There were no buyers, and 50 Cent said Tuesday that the house is no longer for sale.

Tyson bought the estate for $2.8 million in 1996 from Colonial Realty founder Benjamin Sisti, who was sent to prison for nine years for fraud after Colonial went bankrupt in 1990 and investors lost more than $350 million.

Steve was a founder of Excel Communications and helped take that company to a 1 and a half billion dollar business. While other company’s decide to hire a lot of sales people and pay for expensive advertising to get their revenues Steve decide that networking was the way to go. And was he ever right. Excel became the youngest company to join the New York Stock Exchange. Excel also was the fastest company to billion in sales in American business history. Steve Smith had 1.5 million associates in his downline. That is an amazing number. For instance in Corporate America the company that has the most sales people is Hartford Financial at 100,000 sales people. So, Mr. Smith had 15 times the sales force in the 1990’s that the biggest sales force of corporate America has today.
Network marketing is a real industry. Some examples of some of the real heavy weights are Avon and Amway which did 8.5 Billion last year in sales. The realtor firm Keller Williams is a networking real estate company that is spreading globally.
Ask yourself this,
What if you could network market Google. What if? Google did 5.8 Billion in the first Quarter of 2009. They paid out 2.2 Billion in Affiliate marketing dollars. They pay this so their link is on as many of the top rated sites on the web as possible.
Well, that is exactly what Steve Smith and Cameron Sharpe is bringing to the market. Also, ask yourself do you think you would like to make money when you or the people you know are using the internet.

Jay-Z will not be Axl Rose — as he joked to MTV News earlier this year — regarding the long wait for his Blueprint 3 LP. Sources close to the situation have confirmed information from radio personality Miss Info's Twitter page stating that Jay will release Blueprint 3 on September 11, eight years to the day after the release of the first Blueprint album. Hov's new set reportedly will be coming out via a new partnership with the Warner Music Group.

While the first Blueprint album was released on a truly horrific day, it provided escapism for many at the time and remains arguably the greatest opus in Jay's catalog. The album introduced Kanye West and Just Blaze to the forefront of the production world, with soulful soundscapes to complement Jigga's timeless quotables. B3 went into production in 2008 and last spring, Jay announced the album during a Kanye West concert at Madison Square Garden; he also debuted a track from the album, "Jockin' Jay-Z." Kanye, the only producer who has been announced for the album, recently told MTV News that he and Jay had scrapped some earlier tracks recorded for the LP (ones including the Auto-Tune device West used extensively on his recent 808s and Heartbreak LP), and he also revealed that his new artist, singer Mr. Hudson, will make an appearance on the record.

Since most of Jay's albums have had quick turnarounds, fans were expecting Blueprint 3 to be released much sooner. However, Jay has explained in interviews that he was taking his time and actually didn't like not having a deadline to meet. The MC recently parted ways with his longtime label, Def Jam, clearing the way for him to release Blueprint 3 via a different company. Last week reports emerged that Jay was in the process of negotiating deals with both Sony Music and the Warner Music Group. MTV News has confirmed that Blueprint 3 will be coming out via Roc Nation. WMG/ Atlantic will be handling the distribution, marketing and promotion.

Neither Jay nor his rep has released a statement. Jay — who gave a surprise performance in Los Angeles with Eminem on Monday — kicks off his tour with Ciara in Las Vegas on July 3.

Ijango Information:
He's working a new best-of compilation, a fresh remix of his first big hit, an iPhone app, a video game score and an upcoming 17 shows in 17 days North American tour. But Paul van Dyk is most excited about his next album.

"I'm pretty much in the writing phase right now," the German electronic dance music artist tells Billboard.com. "There are about five or six things that will definitely go on the album, and maybe another 10 that could. Then again, the proper writing phase is just about to come."

Van Dyk plans to spend July hunkering down with vocalist and co-writer Johnny McDaid, who sings on the new song "Home" from the van Dyk anthology "Volume," which hits stores Tuesday after a two-week run online. He plans to road test some of the new ideas on his tour, which begins June 11 in Scottsdale, Ariz., but van Dyk says it's too early to predict a direction for his sixth artist album.

"I'm constantly making music or having ideas," van Dyk says. "Sometimes some ideas grow and other times you get bored of them. When I have a hook line or something, I'll throw it into a certain point of my set and prepare everything so it feels natural and see how the crowd reacts, if they actually like it or if it comes across pretty lame. I do that a lot. A lot of the stuff I've produced in the last few years was influenced by things I played live and then recreated in the studio."

"Volume" is a two-disc set, one of which features 13 of van Dyk's own songs -- including a 2009 remix of his 1994 hit "For An Angel" -- while the other sports 11 of his remixes for artists such as U2, Depeche Mode, Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears. "There was so much more I would have liked to have put together on something that's called 'the best of,' " van Dyk notes. "I wish I could put, like 10 CDs together...a whole box that includes everything."

Van Dyk's other recent work includes scoring EA's new Grand Slam Tennis video game, which has piqued his interest in doing more in the gaming world. He's also hawking an iPhone application that includes tools for DJs ("So it's more than just a gadget," he notes) as well as fan-friendly "fun stuff" like a virtual glow stick that changes colors when the device is shaken.

"I love what I do," van Dyk says, "so it doesn't really feel like a job and therefore I'm constantly taking on new challenges and new projects. They obviously keep me constantly busy, but I don't complain. I like it like this."
